  2. I think it's about time somebody got serious about the behaviour of many of the cyclists around Hobart. Just because you choose to put your life at risk by playing in the traffic there is no need to adopt a 'holier than thou' attitude towards all other road users.
God only knows how difficult it is to negotiate traffic (especially during peak hour traffic) and it does nothing for respect towards other road users to have some Lycra clad bozo on a bike riding between lanes of traffic, zipping from lane to lane, riding on & off the footpath and back into the traffic and worst of all, riding not only thru red lights but I even saw one 'hero' riding against the traffic in Argyle Street!
If you want to see sustainable transport strategy, round up all these bozos and put them on the bike track which was constructed at great public expense for their use!
It is NOT SUSTAINABLE to have them frustrating drivers who have paid dearly for the privilege to drive on the roads by registering their expensive vehicles, laid out good money for petrol and are contributing significant sums of money to finance the MAIB.

  3. I agree with the last comment. My pet peeve are the cyclists who ride around at night in dark clothing with just a piddly LED on the back of their bike. I've nearly run over 3 of them in the poorly lit suburban streets of West Hobart. They just appear out of nowhere and it scares the bejeezus out of me!
